HCF Contract Furniture recently supplied a range of bespoke banquette seating and booth seating for Arch Bar / Arches in Scotland, forming part of the seating package for the venue’s newly designed club interior.
The project combined deep fluted banquette seating with made-to-measure U-shaped booth seating, all upholstered in a rich green faux leather. Each section was manufactured around the dimensions and layout of the venue, allowing the seating to fit naturally into enclosed areas and defined spaces throughout the club.
Rather than treating the seating as a separate furniture element, the design was developed to work alongside the wider interior scheme, including feature lighting and a living wall positioned behind part of the banquette run.
Bespoke Banquette Seating for a Club Interior
Bars, clubs and other hospitality venues rarely consist of simple, uniform spaces. Alcoves, structural features, unusual wall lengths and enclosed areas can all make standard off-the-shelf furniture difficult to specify effectively.
For Arch Bar, bespoke seating allowed the available space to be used much more efficiently. The banquette runs and booth sets were manufactured specifically for their intended locations rather than being restricted to predetermined module sizes.
This approach is particularly useful for commercial interiors because the dimensions, configuration, upholstery and back style can all be adapted to the venue.
Well-planned bespoke booth and banquette seating can help maximise seating capacity while creating clearly defined areas for customers. It can also follow walls and architectural features more closely, giving designers greater control over how seating forms part of the overall floor plan.
At Arch Bar, this was especially important for the enclosed areas where the U-shaped booths were positioned.
Deep Fluted Banquette Seating
A key feature of the project is the deep fluted banquette seating, with pronounced vertical channels running through the upholstered backrests.
Deep fluting gives commercial banquette seating a strong architectural quality. The repeated vertical lines provide detail and depth without relying on loose furniture or additional decorative elements, making the style particularly effective in bars, restaurants, nightclubs and other hospitality interiors.
For this project, the deep fluting also works particularly well with the rich green upholstery and lighting used throughout the venue.

U-Shaped Booth Seating Made to Fit the Space
Alongside the straight banquette sections, HCF supplied bespoke U-shaped booth seating for defined areas within the club.
U-shaped booths are particularly useful where a venue needs to create self-contained social spaces. By surrounding a table on three sides, the seating helps establish a distinct area within a larger bar or club environment while making efficient use of the available footprint.
The booths at Arch Bar were manufactured specifically around the enclosed spaces in which they were being installed.
This is one of the main advantages of bespoke booth seating. Instead of trying to make a standard booth fit an existing interior, the furniture can be produced around the room itself.
For designers and contractors, this provides much greater flexibility when working with awkward wall lengths, recesses, columns or other fixed features. It also allows booth sizes and seating capacities to be considered as part of the wider interior layout rather than as an afterthought.
Agua Paint Pot Grass Faux Leather
The seating was upholstered in Agua Paint Pot – Grass, a rich green faux leather that complements the wider colour palette of the club.
For busy hospitality environments, faux leather can be a practical upholstery choice. Its smooth, wipe-clean surface makes routine maintenance straightforward, which is particularly useful for bar seating and nightclub seating exposed to regular customer use, drinks and food.
The Grass colour also gives the installation a distinctive visual identity. Combined with the deep vertical fluting, the green upholstery creates a strong feature without overpowering the surrounding materials and finishes.
Selecting upholstery for commercial banquette seating is about balancing appearance with the practical requirements of the venue. With bespoke manufacture, designers can select finishes that work with their wider interior scheme rather than being limited to a small set of standard furniture colours.
Integrating Seating with the Interior Design
One of the more considered details within the project is the lighting positioned behind part of the banquette seating.
Uplighting rises from behind the backrests and washes light onto the venue’s living wall, creating a visual connection between the furniture and the architectural finishes behind it.
It is a good example of why bespoke banquette seating can be valuable beyond simply providing somewhere to sit.
When seating dimensions and positioning are planned around a specific interior, they can work alongside lighting, wall finishes and architectural details to create a much more integrated result.
In this case, the seating provides both a practical hospitality function and a defined visual edge to the planted wall behind it.
