Located in the picturesque village of Matching Green, The Chequers Pub is a refined yet welcoming destination known for its stylish interiors, relaxed dining atmosphere, and suitability for group dining and special occasions.
HCF Contract Furniture was commissioned to design, manufacture, and supply a bespoke mix of booth seating, banquette seating, and lounge seating throughout multiple areas of the venue as part of a wider bar and pub furniture fit-out designed for stylish dining, social spaces and terrace seating..
This project required a cohesive design language, durable commercial materials, and tailored seating layouts to suit both intimate dining and larger social groups.
Project Overview: Custom Seating for a Premium Village Pub
The brief was to create distinct seating zones, each with its own character, while maintaining a consistent, high-end finish throughout the venue. Seating needed to be:
Comfortable for long dwell times
Hard-wearing and compliant for commercial hospitality use
Visually striking without overpowering the space
Flexible enough for group dining and varied table layouts
Our solution combined multiple bespoke seating styles, fabrics, and layouts — all manufactured to order in our UK workshop.
High-Back Diamond Buttoned Banquette Seating – Black Valencia C5
One of the standout features of the interior is the high-back diamond buttoned banquette seating, upholstered in Black Valencia C5 faux leather.
This seating was supplied as:
Long continuous banquette runs along the walls
A large half-round booth, paired with a 1200mm round dining table and three loose dining chairs
The high backrest provides both comfort and visual impact, while the diamond button detailing adds a classic, timeless feel. Valencia C5 was chosen for its Crib 5 fire compliance, durability, and ease of cleaning — ideal for busy pub environments.
Boxed Deep Fluted L-Shape Seating – Black Velvet Style Upholstery
To complement the more traditional buttoned seating, we introduced a boxed, deep-fluted banquette seating layout in a rich black velvet-style fabric.

For a warmer, more relaxed zone, we manufactured a long run of deep fluted banquette seating upholstered in Valencia Deep Orange, paired with elegant walnut-stained wooden legs.

Terrace Seating: Deep Fluted L-Shape Banquettes with Legs
The outdoor terrace required seating that felt just as considered as the interior. We supplied a very large L-shaped deep fluted banquette, designed specifically to wrap around the terrace layout.

Roll-Top Booth Seating – Kensington Black with Dark Wood Legs
To complete the project, we manufactured deep fluted roll-top booth seating, upholstered in Kensington Black fabric and finished with dark wood legs.

Ideal seating for private dining and small groups
The roll-top profile softens the overall layout while reinforcing the venue’s high-end identity.
